About

Online hate shouldn't be part of the job.

Fendr is protection infrastructure for anyone in the public eye. We believe being visible online should never mean tolerating abuse — and that the work of removing it shouldn't fall on the person being targeted.

Why we exist

Founder, Fendr

Fendr was built by Emily O'Gorman after watching coordinated online harassment target high-profile individuals — and seeing how little existing tooling actually protected the people on the receiving end. Before Fendr, Emily spent four years at Dogpatch Labs, Ireland's startup hub, and built Reportd (2024), a tool for anonymously reporting sexual harassment. The through-line is the same: addressing harmful behaviour with better infrastructure, not asking people to simply endure it.

How we think about protection

Individual-first

Built for people, not brands — with protection personalised to who you are, not a one-size-fits-all keyword list.

Prevention over reaction

We remove harmful comments before they reach you, rather than helping you clean up after the damage is done.

Context over keywords

We read the full context of a comment — sarcasm, nuance, who it targets — instead of matching words in a blocklist.

That philosophy is why Fendr removes hate before it's seen, learns the abuse aimed specifically at you, and keeps you in control of every decision. It's protection built around the person — because that's where the harm actually lands.
